'The Village' is a "thriller" that fails to deliver thrills, not to mention an ending that cheats the viewer terribly. What a disappointment. That's two in a role for me after the not quite as mediocre 'Signs.'

Very disappointed in this movie. I figured out the "twist" from the trailer and thought that M. Night is just sliding in a formulaic funk. SIXTH SENSE and SIGNS were at least about the supernatural or paranormal. But this?????

When the screening was over, several of my colleagues were visibly upset - they couldn'tb believe that Shyamalan had put together such a sloppy film with a lame twist. This laziness extended to the filmmaking itself - I counted a boom mike in the scene no less than a half dozen times.

M. Night, The Sixth Sense is over, get a new shtick.

You could have figured the ending out without having any prior knowledge of the film.

This is the first time Shyamalan has disappointed me ... Signs was his best film followed by Unbreakable and then The Sixth Sense.

SIGNS was OK. I thought it wrapped up too tidily at the end. Shyamalan needs to collaborate with some fresh blood.

This movie is plain garbage. M. Night is getting dumber by the day. $70 million movie? What did he spend it one? Save your money.

I thought SIGNS was one of the best thrillers in years. UNBREAKABLE was OK and I didn't consider THE SIXTH SENSE to be a masterpiece until a number of repeat viewings. I still think SIGNS is his best though. THE VILLAGE just looks dumb, as if he's repeating himself...even the ads look similar to SIGNS'...as Greg said, get a new shtick, Shyamalan.

I think he should try a new genre, or at least come up with a new approach.

The movie was horrible. Unlike his other films, The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, where I was totally oblivious to the "twist," I deciphered this ending the same time I was laughing at Adrien Brody for choosing such a horrible role (about the time he was laughing hysterically at the dinner table near the beginning, screaming "They are coming!"). What a joke and waste of money. Grade: C-

I personaly LOVED the movie. It hits you highly on an emotional and disturbing level. I wen't to see it with a group of friends [all 13-14] and yet I was the only one who seemed to be deeper than childs pool. Same goes for you guys. I enjoyed your review, it was done beautifuly, but wasn't this movie after a book? SO technically, that 'yellow Flag, red Flag' can be swiped off right there, considering the book was written, I believe, before 9/11. The twist had me shocked compltely, because you never saw signs of it coming. That did disapoint me, but Shyamalan blew me away with his workings of hitting you deep down. When Noah tried to kill another man, for an example, I was shocked and compeltely horrified. Amazed slightly, that Ivy was still afraid of the wood after knowing the truth, and it slams reality on you so hard, most people DID just leave the theater annoyed and baffled. I liked the film, it got to me, and had a nice plot. [Although, I prefer being able to figure out the plot before it tells you.]
